Falling Light Dayana Morency Books
This book follows Rosalyn who takes her first job cleaning hotels for the summer. During this time she meets Victor a guest at the hotel. After meeting Victor her life completely changes. Rosalyn was adopted after her parents where killed, but not before spending some time on foster care. Rosalyn has a great caregiver who is doing the best that she can do for her.Things I really enjoyed in the book was the friendship that we could see between Rosalyn and Derek. He seemed to be wanting only the best of Rosalyn. He was her best friend and tried to always be there for her. I loved the way he would look out for her. When I was first reading the book I thought that Rosalyn had feelings for Derek, but as the relationship between Rosalyn and Victor took off I wasn't sure if she ever had feelings for Derek. In the end of the book though you could see that Rosalyn was very important to Derek. This relationship in my mind was written very well and it made a lot of sense to me as a reader.
Other aspects of the book that I enjoyed was the ending. At some points I wasn't 100% sure where the book was going, but towards the end everything fell into place and made complete sense. I think the ending really picks up and makes you want to know what is going to happen Rosalyn. Also, I wanted to learn more about what Victor was and the author did a great job explaining things to the reader so that it made sense.
Things I didn't love in the book was certain parts of the story. Some parts of the story really dragged along and could be cut out and other parts of the story developed way to fast. For an example Victor drove her to a friends wedding, which didn't really make sense since she honestly just met him. Also, during the trip we didn't learn that much about Victor except that he was a little strange. I felt like this whole section could have been cut out, we did get to learn a little about Rosalyn as a child, but that didn't really effect the book. In my opinion that section could have been cut out.
Another example was that Rosalyn and Victor became close way to fast in my opinion. It felt like there relationship just sort of took off and there was no background given to the reader. It was like one moment they met and then she is digging up his past trying to learn about him. I felt like way to many key details where left out on how the relationship developed. I love when as a reader you can get the same feelings the author had while writing this relationship and I just didn't see this come through.
I would suggest this as a nighttime read. It was easy to follow along in the book so it was easy to pickup and putdown. The plot gets a lot more intense towards the end of the book since you want to know what is going to happen to everyone.

Falling Light Dayana Morency Books Reviews
Falling Light by Dayana Morency was a pretty fast paced story, unfortunately there were so many Twilight similarities, it was distracting. I don't know why, but I thought this was going to be about vampires. It was actually an angel story. So, that was a pleasant little surprise. I like some of the angel lore that was brought in. These were a different kind of angel, not your people loving protector angels, at least not all of them. They were pretty vicious. I didn't get the romance. At all. What was the appeal for either character? Victor took a very long time to grow on you, and I'm still not really sold on him. I like Rose's bestie better. Rose didn't strike me an as overly intelligent young lady. I kept asking myself "How can she not know that?" or "Why in the world did she say that?" She was a little quirky though. So, there was that. The story had some promise. I really wish it didn't parallel Twilight so much though. That's what really hurt the story for me.
Falling Light by Dayana Morency was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
This book just had WAY too many similarities to Twilight for me to enjoy it that much. I will explain but fair warning this review DOES contain spoilers so don’t read this is you don’t want to know.
****SPOILERS****
Okay so here are the reasons that I am giving this book such a low rating
1.Okay so here are the plot points that are exactly the same as Twilight
•Almost rape scene
•Having a meal (In Twilight it was a dinner…but just changing the time doesn’t matter)
•AND having the reveal in the forest
Seriously if those had been gone or written a different way than it wouldn’t be so bad…but they weren’t. Then there is the insta-love….I HATE INSTA-LOVE!!! It’s really just a ridiculous thing. I enjoy the slow burning romances that get you in all the right feels before the True Love happens, because that’s just more believable and enjoyable. Victor is also an ASS, I mean, he didn’t even like humans so how could he possible care for Rosalynn and he kept secrets that were unnecessary and threw A LOT of tantrums. My own children don’t even throw tantrums that ridiculous. Seriously. He doesn’t even do a good job of protecting her. WORST BOYFRIEND EVER!!!!
So in conclusion, it may have a decent mythology base but I don’t recommend reading it if you have already read Twilight. If you haven’t then this book will be great for you.

Pros Great story idea, great characters
Cons ran a bit fast, not always easy to follow
Overall rating It was good, but it edges on something I might not recommend.
Review
I was given this book on the condition that I would given an honest review.
I think this book has great potential. The story line is great and the characters are good. I just struggled at times with the book as a whole. I think that there were times that things got rushed. I also think that some parts moved too slow.
The characters were good, but I think that there was something lacking between them as they interact. I just did not feel connected to Rosalynn at all. And her relationship with Victor seems rushed and doesn't feel right to me. I think that it needs to be draw out a bit, explain things better.
I think with the right changes this could be the start to a great new series. I don't know if the author wants to make it into one, but there is potential here with the right work. I think changing up the flow of things and rehashing the story would make it flow better, and not feel as rushed. It has a great base to work with but I think that the execution was just lacking. Nothing that can't be fixed.
