I enjoyed this book immensely and would recommend it very highly. The author takes us straight to a believable world with super female characters with a truly interesting occupation. The story moves along at a pace that keeps the reader glued to their Kindle and the journey the characters go on leaves me wanting more.

I love a really great engaging fantasy story written in depth by authors like Patricia Wrede, Robin McKinley, so how have I missed this author? This may be the first book I've read of hers, but it will be the first of many.

When I was asked to review the book I was unsure. My TBR pile is large, but I am happy I said yes, I got to read a great book and find a new author that I want to read more from.

Lines Upon the Skin tells the story of Ashil, who learned the art of Cartography from her father, but has the urge to see the world. She and her friends and co-workers, Chandra and Lilith, leave her city and meet up with Alexa and Carly. The book moves at a comfortable pace, but never drags or gets boring. All five women have distinct personalities, strengths and weaknesses, and interesting back stories.

Lines upon the skin (the skin being what they draw their maps on) has action, adventure, romance, magic, and intrigue. The women learn and grow during the two years the book covers, but never unbelievably or out of character. By the end of the book I felt as if I had spent time with friends on an adventure.

I highly recommend reading this book and checking out this author.

** I went to the author page and only found this book for adults, the rest were children's books. I am hopeful her publishing Lines upon the Skin in format is the start of her bringing her adult or YA books to be sold on Ammy.
